Choose a level open area
Place the BBQ on a stable, level surface away from sheds, fences, overhanging branches, low covers, dry plants, and busy paths. Keep children, pets, and footballs away from the cooking zone.
Think about wind
Do not put smoke directly on neighbours, open windows, or the person making salad. A slightly sheltered open spot is better than an exposed wind tunnel.
If the BBQ location needs a risk assessment and an apology note, move it.
